Senator Tim Bivins says Governor Rod Blagojevich is not being straight with Illinois citizens about funding for state parks, historic sites and human service workers.

“Media reports indicate that the Governor is using the economy as an excuse to not restore funding for state parks, historic sites and human service workers,” Senator Bivins said. “The Governor is not being straight with Illinois citizens, who have told us in no uncertain terms that the closing of state parks and historic sites will hurt their communities and the loss of human services will seriously impact many of the residents of those communities.”

The 45th District Senator says funding restored by lawmakers in September now sits in a special fund, the FY09 Budget Relief Fund, waiting to be spent to keep the parks and historic sites open and to fund human service providers.
